Books

In 2008, following counselling for grief, SJ was encouraged not only to write about her dreams but also to try creating a story from start to finish. That suggestion marked the beginning of her writing journey, where she discovered both solace and creativity in the stories she writes, romance being the choice.  There are intimate scenes, which some readers may find graphic.  As I usually write in first person the level is dependant on the character themselves, some have a lust filled frenzy inside them, others just want the intimacy.

The books below are in order that they have been written.  Some are series are some are sand alone.  From her debut novel to now, she has developed and refined her editing process.  Through the support of her main job, she was able to connect with an editor who has been an incredible find. Beyond helping with grammar and spelling, she also supports the continuity and flow of the story itself.

For the Love of Africa

Debbie McHewin Series Book 2

Phil has known Debbie for nearly a year, yet her time in Africa remains a mystery—until one dinner changes everything.

Encouraged by friends, she begins to unravel a story filled with adventure, danger, and desire.  It starts in Swaziland, where Debbie and her friend Amy meet the captivating and enigmatic Luke.  Drawn in by wildlife, safaris, and Luke’s charm, Debbie soon accepts a job that ties her life to his.  As the days blur into nights, their connection deepens into a secret, intoxicating romance.  But beneath the passion lies something darker—Luke’s control and a past he refuses to explain.  Debbie finds herself torn between independence and the pull of a life she barely understands.  Exotic landscapes, rare animals, and high-stakes encounters frame a story that feels impossible to leave behind.

Yet doubts creep in, and the truth about Luke threatens everything she’s built.

Now, as she relives it all, one question remains—was it ever love, or just illusion?

To Dance For Madame

This story is told from two perspectives: Antonio’s and Francesca’s.

Antonio has chased the dream of dance since childhood—but reality has never lived up to the spotlight he imagined. When a sudden vacancy opens in a prestigious troupe, it could be his only shot at greatness. There’s just one problem: his one weakness might cost him everything. Then he meets Francesca, who dances like the woman of his dreams—fearless, yet strangely guarded. Unaware of her past, Antonio sees only potential—and a chance to finally prove himself.

Francesca was once a celebrated dancer, but after a life-altering accident, she walked away from a world that now demands more than her fragile short-term memory can give. Though she’s kept her distance, her connections remain strong—and she knows exactly what Antonio wants. Against her better judgement, she eventually agrees to help him, stepping back into a life she swore she’d left behind.

As rehearsals intensify, so does the connection neither of them expected. Soon, ambition and emotion collide, forcing truths neither can ignore. And when the final choice comes, Antonio must decide—chase the dream he’s always wanted, or risk everything for the one person who makes him question it.

Finding the Lions

The Pride Series Book 1

Damira, a London-based linguist, seizes the opportunity to explore her Kazakh roots when Thomas Bordeaux, a passionate conservationist zoologist, enlists her for an exciting project. Together, they embark on a journey to verify potential sightings of Asiatic lions in the Sairam-Ugam State National Park. As Damira and Thomas delve into this challenging wilderness, they form deep connections with the locals, who reveal the hidden dynamics of the park and stir hope for the success of their endeavours.  Together, they must confront the pressing question: Will they find any lions and help to promote a beneficial tourist industry to protect them.

During the quest, tension builds as Damira navigates unfamiliar cultural landscapes and new relationships, particularly an intriguing working relationship with Karik, a local who helps manage the park's roaming animals. Karik's enigmatic presence initially seems to antagonize her, yet stirs unexpected emotions on both sides.  Amid the challenges and discoveries, both Damira and Karik struggle to remain focused as the allure of deeper personal connections proves irresistible.
